Doug Bend

Doug Bend is the founder and Managing Attorney of Bend Law Group, where he advises founders and business owners of established and growing companies on significant business decisions, transactions, and legal strategy. He founded BLG to help entrepreneurs build strong companies and avoid the legal mistakes that can derail a promising business.

He works primarily with founders and business owners of established and scaling companies who want experienced strategic counsel to help them navigate significant business decisions, structure important transactions, and protect what they are building.

Doug especially enjoys working with entrepreneurs who are building something meaningful - whether they are expanding a successful company, entering new markets, or navigating complex decisions as their organizations grow. Many of his clients want more than legal documents. They want a trusted advisor who understands their business and provides clear, strategic guidance so they can move forward with confidence.

Doug advises clients on significant business decisions, complex contracts and transactions, ownership and governance matters, and the legal issues that arise as companies grow and evolve.

He and his team often serve as outside general counsel to many established businesses, providing ongoing strategic guidance, helping them structure deals thoughtfully, manage legal risk, and make confident decisions that support the long-term success of their businesses.

Doug graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Drake University with a B.A. in Political Science and History. He earned an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Nebraska and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.

He has been featured in The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, Fox Business, MSN, Inc., Forbes, and many other outlets for his work helping founders build legally sound businesses from day one.

Outside of work, Doug enjoys exploring the Bay Area with his wife, Joanne, their two young kids, and their endlessly enthusiastic Double Doodle, Zoe.
